My name is Austin Porter and I am an assistant professor in the department of Health Policy and Management at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health (COPH). I joined the COPH as faculty in 2017 and participated in the SEED program in 2018. Participating in the Seed program provided insight into how to engage with allies who are like-minded.
Additionally, the program allowed me to better understand and appreciate colleagues who are from different cultures and backgrounds. We were able to share stories that shaped our outlook on life. This program reinforced the fact that there is strength in diversity because of the many perspectives that are presented. If I were to describe the SEED program using two adjectives, I would say it is insightful and amazing.
