Undergraduate Freshman and Sophomores

The Pre-Health Scholars Program (PHSP), administered by the UAMS Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, will help provide local freshman and sophomore college students interested in health care the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding about various health care related career fields and professions. Through PHSP, students will learn about medical and public health interventions and innovations, collaborate with leaders in the healthcare industry and be exposed to cutting-edge technology currently used in professional training & laboratory experiments.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Student Experiences:
– Development of a personalized academic career plan
– Attend lectures and Q &A sessions with faculty in diverse academic and geographic areas
Program Components:
- Introduction to the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and MCAT
- Simulated Clinical Experiences
- Introduction to the Public Health Module
- Medical Interventions Module
- Culinary Medicine Module
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Demonstrations
Highlights:
- A stipend of $400 after completion of the program
- Virtual/Face-to-face GRE or MCAT tutoring and preparation
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) coaching
- Weekly “Lunch and Learn” opportunities with professional faculty
